Being patient during a waiting season can be incredibly challenging, especially when we're eager for God's promises to manifest immediately. The reality, however, is that things don't always unfold on our timeline. In this blog post, I'll share a few things that helps me navigate the waiting season with grace and faith.
Stand on Gods promises
One thing that helps me during the waiting season is remembering that God is faithful and true to His word. All of God's promises are "yes" and "amen." Sometimes I find myself asking, "God, why did You even tell me if I can't have it right now? What good is it to me if I can't have it?" While we may not always understand why He asks us to wait, we can trust that He knows what He's doing. It's important that we embrace the waiting season as a time to grow in patience and trust. Believe that God's timing is perfect, and he is working all things together for your good.
Here are some Bible verses that can help you stand on God's promises during the waiting season:
Jeremiah 29:11 – "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Isaiah 40:31 – "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
Romans 8:28 – "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
2 Corinthians 1:20 – "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are 'Yes' in Christ. And so through him the 'Amen' is spoken by us to the glory of God."
Proverbs 3:5-6 – "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Surround Yourself with Encouragement:
Another way to stay positive during the waiting season is to surround yourself with people who are in alignment with your faith and values. Connect with those who will help you stay encouraged on this journey and remind you of God's goodness. Attending church, joining small groups, or finding an accountability partner can provide the support and encouragement you need to remain hopeful and strong.
Here are some Bible verses that highlight the importance of surrounding yourself with supportive, faith-aligned people during the waiting season:
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 – "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up."
Proverbs 27:17 – "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
1 Thessalonians 5:11 – "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
Matthew 18:20 – "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them."
1 Peter 4:8-10 – "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms."
Reflection
Sometimes, as busy moms, we can forget all the promises God has already fulfilled in our lives. When I find myself getting a little impatient, I take a moment to reflect on what God has already done. All of those blessings. He has given me, like my family, my children, and the everyday miracles. This practice helps me remind myself that just because something doesn't happen on my timeline doesn't mean it won't happen at all. Reflecting on God's past faithfulness strengthens my trust in his perfect timing.
Psalm 77:11-12 – "I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds."
Psalm 105:5 – "Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced."
Colossians 3:15 – "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful."
Hebrews 13:8 – "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."
1 Thessalonians 5:18 – "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
Stay Close to God Through Prayer and Scripture
Prayer is our direct line of communication with God. It allows us to share our hearts, our struggles, and our joys with Him. Through prayer, we invite God into our circumstances and seek His guidance and comfort. Consistent prayer helps us to remain hopeful and strengthens our faith, even when answers seem delayed. When we pray, we remind ourselves of God's sovereignty and His intimate involvement in our lives.
The Bible is God's Word to us, filled with his promises, wisdom, and truths. Regularly reading Scripture grounds us in his promises and reassures us of his faithfulness. The stories of God's past faithfulness to his people is always encouraging during times of waiting. By staying in the Word, we remind ourselves of who God is and what he has done. This gives us the confidence we need to navigate through life.
Here are some scriptures that discusses the importance of prayer and staying in the Word of God:
Psalm 119:105 – "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."
James 5:16 – "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
Romans 15:4 – "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope."
Matthew 7:7 – "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
